David Cormier

David grew up in Seattle on the hill above the unlimited hydroplane pits where the annual Seafair race took place. As a young kid he took his first photographs of the hydroplanes that he loved so much in the Seattle pits on a 110 camera he borrowed in 1982. A few years later he was gifted a 35mm camera with fixed lens and expanded his picture taking. In college for his Visual Communications degree he continued his photography learning and expanded to nature photographs.

At the end of college his focus became video production and put photography on hold. Over the years he played with small cameras the family had, taking pictures of his kids and nature photos here and there. In 2008 he bought his first dslr and fell in love with photography again. After years of just shooting video of the boats, he tackled capturing photos of the boats running. He expanded to his other passion, airplanes as well as nature. Today he is respected as one of the top photographers in Unlimited Hydroplane racing and is currently the Media Director for the U-11 Unlimited Racing Group. His pictures have graced the covers and insides of the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum's annual calendar for years.
